Dexterity Global, in partnership with India's largest circulated daily Dainik Bhaskar, ran a special campaign to connect over 400,000 families in Bihar and Jharkhand with information about international Olympiads. In an effort to make Olympiads accessible to children even in the remotest parts of India and boost their participation at these global platforms, the pioneering campaign was run in Hindi and offered children a comprehensive guide to participating and excelling in different Olympiads through newspaper columns.
Spread over several weeks in the months of June and July, the campaign first published a list of all major Olympiads along with their deadlines and then featured an Olympiad each in every coming issue. Olympiad features included an introduction to the Olympiad, relevant information about the competition, preparation guidelines, application timeline and deadlines.
Olympiads are designed not only to reward and motivate students but also to accelerate their interest in the given field.
Global opportunities in local languages
Even though performance in Olympiads is considered an important indicator of a child's academic proficiency, majority of our students fail to even participate in such Olympiads because of the lack of information and guidance. Research findings consistently show that students are more likely to engage in the learning process when taught in their native language. While many global opportunities fail to reach young people across the globe, the ones that do fail to better engage or prepare them because of language barriers. Dexterity is solving the problem by reaching world-class educational opportunities to communities in their local languages.
Leveling the playing field for our children
Every child has a unique story and diverse perspectives. To better facilitate their spirit of enquiry and innovative ideas, we need to engage and provide opportunities for all students to learn in meaningful ways. Data suggests that the more kids participate in science and math challenges and Olympiads and engage with multiple perspectives and problems, the more likely they are to do well in school and in their careers. However, with a huge disparity in access to educational opportunities, most children in disconnected regions of the world do not even know that these opportunities exist especially for them.
